In the Humboldt Connections program, students will enroll in two linked interdisciplinary General Education (GE) courses on topics relevant to the Humboldt region. Each option emphasizes active and involved learning opportunities both inside and outside of the classroom. Since Humboldt Connections includes only two classes, you will complete your Fall, 2008 schedule by taking additional classes of your choosing. Humboldt Connections will help fulfill GE requirements for every HSU major.
Theme 1: Off the Beaten Path: Humboldt through Literature and Landscapes (6 – 8 units)
Majors: Suitable for all majors. Students with AP English cannot be accommodated.
Description: Explore the "real" Humboldt County! Challenge myths and stereotypes of local people and places while developing academic skills. Literature, film, archival research, landscape analysis, and writing come together in this interdisciplinary course.
