Exploring Human Dimensions of Natural Resources (11-12 Units)

Major(s):

Fisheries Biology, Forestry, Natural Resources Planning and Interpretation, Rangeland Resource Science, Wildland Soil Science, Wildlife, and all Environmental Sciences majors or undeclared students interested in environmental or natural resource issues.

Description:

This FIG provides a foundation for natural resource students with an emphasis in the human dimensions of natural resources management. The Seminar examines the role of humans in shaping our use of resources. May include some field trips.

This FIG includes four classes: “Fundamentals of Speech” (3 units), “Fundamentals of Chemistry” (4 units), or in a few cases “General Chemistry” (5 units), “Natural Resource Conservation” (3 units), and the Humboldt (FIG) Seminar (1 unit). Wildlife students will be encouraged to also take "Introduction to Wildlife" (1 unit), Fisheries Biology students will be encouraged to take “Introduction to Fisheries” (1 unit), and Rangeland Resource Science and Wildland Soils students will be encouraged to take “Rangeland Resources in Modern Society” (1 unit).
