Find Funding

Find Funding

Tips for Finding Funding: Looking for grant opportunities can be time consuming and frustrating, but a few tips and a little planning can make a world of difference. If you are new to the world of grants, or even if you’re not, we encourage you to contact a Pre-Award Specialist. We will ask you for a list of key terms related to your research interests and then we’ll invite you into the office to sit down and go through possible grant opportunities.

TIP: Remember that most grant opportunities are available on a regular (annual, biannual, semi-annual, etc.) basis. If a deadline has passed, your Pre-Award Specialist will be happy to contact the funder to inquire when/if the next round of funding will be available. You should keep a list of potential grants and grant deadlines handy so you can develop a research plan.

Strategic Matching Fund:

“Cash Match” is a major challenge and a deterrent for many interested in pursuing external funding. Our Strategic Matching Fund is a new program that offers up to $10,000 in ‘placeholder cash matching funds’ for external grant proposals, expanding opportunities for new project submissions, and ultimately increasing the number of Principal Investigators.

Funding Sources:

  • Engagement Hub - This NEW site is a one-stop-shop to access and search for internal funding opportunities within the Humboldt campus community. When departments or divisions advertise internal calls for funding, mini-grants, or awards, it can often be challenging to know where to look. Engagement Hub acts as one central repository for internally funded small grants, awards, stipends, etc… Engagement Hub can bring together all the various pockets of available internal funding into one location where faculty, staff, and students can more easily find and access applications.
  • CSU Office of Research - Research, scholarship and creative activity touch every part of the California State University  enhancing learning and preparing students for the jobs of the future. The breadth and depth of this work spans 23 campuses through shared expertise, facilities and resources.
