WORKSHOP PROPOSAL SUBMISSION

We are looking to complement and add to this event with workshops from our many campus staff and faculty experts. We are open to other topics that will help participants promote student success on our campus. Some examples of potential topics include:

  • Student-Centered Learning
  • Building Inclusive Programs/Communities
  • Enhancing Student Learning with Technology
  • Navigating Challenging Conversations
  • Multicultural Education
  • Collaborative Learning
  • Learning Communities
  • Teaching in Large Classes
  • Strategies for Engaging/Supporting Students
  • Metacognition: Teaching Students How to Learn

The above topics are just examples. We are also open to any other topic that will support this exciting event! We encourage team presentations, particularly those that incorporate staff and faculty facilitators and/or multi-disciplinary facilitators.

EXPECTATIONS OF WORKSHOP FACILITATORS

In proposal:

  • Provide an appealing and relevant workshop title
  • Identify 1-2 specific learning outcomes (what the participants will know and be able to do after the session that they didn’t know, or weren‘t able to do before the session)
  • Develop relevant content linked to specific learning outcomes

If accepted:

  • Provide workshop materials for a 90 minute session

  • Be knowledgeable and skillful in topic area

  • Use active learning strategies in your workshop

  • Provide a handout (at least one) for each workshop participant

TIMELINE

  • Proposal deadline: April 10, 2013 by noon

  • Notification of acceptance: April 15th

  • Institute Registration opens: April 29th

  • Institute for Student Success: August 20
