The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is an admission requirement for all international students whose native language is not English or whose preparatory education was principally in a language other than English. A composite score of 525 (computer based minimum score of 197; iBT (Internet-Based Test) minimum score of 71) or higher is required for admission and must have been completed within the last two years of enrolling at HSU. If you have completed a California Community College or University general education English Composition course or for applicants who have graudated from an accredited four-year U.S. high school and have completed four years of English college preparation course work with a grade of "B" or higher, you do not need to submit your TOEFL score. Students who have not obtained the above minimum scores may be interested in attending the International English Language Institute (IELI) which is located on the HSU campus.
