Phil Zastrow—ITEPP Director
He:yung! As the Director of ITEPP I welcome you to the ITEPP web pages. I am a Hoopa Tribal member. The Hoopa Valley is located approximately 60 miles east of Humboldt State University.
My higher education journey took over 24 years. There were some long periods between achievements, which I have found is not uncommon. I completed my Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics Teaching in 1989, and finished my Master's of Science degree in Environmental Systems, Mathematical Modeling Option, in 1995.
I am finding that I am always engaged in some kind of learning activity. This is as it should be, although I can't always say that I have appreciated this while the learning was happening.
I was the student services coordinator at ITEPP from 1996 to 2007. As the coordinator I was responsible for recruiting and retention services. As Director I do some of the same duties as well as liaison with the Native Community.
The majority of my time is now spent with administration of ITEPP, but I still interact with and advise students.
