by Rick Garcia, Telecommunications & Network Services

As you’ll have seen from email communications, TNS is in the process of rolling out our new OneBox voicemail system, to replace the aging Octel system which, while still functional, is not able to take advantage of all the additional technology that’s now in daily use across campus.

Your phone number won’t change, and you’ll find that the basic OneBox functionality is almost exactly the same as the Octel system. You’ll still press 11 to listen to messages, 7 to delete them, 9 to save a message, 6999 to access voicemail from off campus. etc. We’ll be adding more functionality later in the year but, for now, there will be no change in the way you use your voicemail.

To be ready for the new system when it goes live on March 6, you will need to:

  • Change your voicemail PIN
  • Record your name and a new voicemail greeting
  • Record any saved messages you need to keep onto an external device (you can use your smartphone or iPod – or media services will be able to loan you a recording device)

You’ll find step-by-step instructions on the ITS website.
