This document borrows extensively from and replicates significant portions of the University of Delaware's "Policy for Responsible Computing." The University of Delaware was awarded CAUSE's "Best Practices in Service" award for 1995 for this work. Local modifications and editing were performed by a committee of HSU users in 1996, including faculty, staff, and students, appointed by the Vice President for Academic Affairs.
The documents described and linked below describe the standards required for all telecommunications and networking infrastructure projects.
Classroom Technology Services is funded by Academic Affairs for the purpose of providing equipment and services in support of instructional programs. All requests for equipment loans or services from individuals and agencies for non-instructional purposes shall be subject to a service or use charge to compensate the instructional program for use of the resources.
A broad range of audio, video and multimedia equipment is available for faculty use to present instructional materials. This equipment is intended for the exclusive use of the faculty for the development and presentation of information to students in a classroom setting.
The type of equipment and the length of time it may be checked out is determined through user consultation with Classroom Technology Services staff. Consideration is given to the user's specific need and competing demands for equipment availability.
All users of Humboldt State University's computing lab resources are responsible for the well-being and continued availability of the computing, network, and information resources we use. Ensuring a pleasant and productive working environment for all users requires that each user of the computing lab facilities abides by the Humboldt State University Appropriate Use Policy
