Humboldt State University recommends the use of the CyberDuck or Fugu for OS X to upload files securely. Please download and install your preferred application before following the instructions below to transfer a file.

The following instructions are based on CyberDuck v2.8 and Fugu v1.2.0. Advanced users may use the command line to connect to the server if they wish.

Note: Command line access is not allowed on the Central Web Server for terminal or SSH connections.

Web :: SFTP Connections to the Central Web Server - Windows

Humboldt State University recommends the use of the SSH Secure Shell application for Windows for secure file uploads. The instructions are based on SSH Secure Shell 3.2.2.

Note: Command line access is not allowed on the Central Web Server for terminal or SSH connections.

Web :: Moving Your Site to Drupal

Because Drupal is a complete web platform management system licensed for use across the Humboldt State University campus, you'll find it very easy and intuitive to use to develop new sites. However, converting existing sites to Drupal will take some time; we found that on average it takes people unfamiliar with Drupal about 3.5 hours to transfer a 15-page site. You can choose to transfer your site to Drupal at any time; it's more important to ensure that your site meets accessibility requirements.

Web :: Using Drupal

HSU has a campus-wide license for Drupal, a software platform that enables individuals, teams, and communities to easily publish, manage, and organize content on the web. This means you can use Drupal to create your web site at no cost instead of paying for a license to use DreamWeaver. Drupal is all web-based, so there's nothing to install, and you can control who's allowed to edit what if you have multiple people working on your site.

Accessibility :: Website Development for Accessibility

The Internet is one of the most important communications media used at Humboldt State University. It connects users to information sources and to each other, delivers coursework, and enables self-service administrative tasks such as registering for classes. Web pages must be reasonably accessible to enable students, faculty, staff, and the general public to participate fully in the HSU community.

Accessibility :: Web Accessibility Criteria

Below is a list of conditions every Humboldt State University website is required to meet in order to pass accessibility testing. If, after best efforts, any University website developer cannot create an accessible page, a link must be provided to an alternative page that is accessible, has equivalent information or functionality, and is updated as often as the inaccessible (original) page.

Web :: Web Publishing Overview

Humboldt State University has three main web servers, each of which serves a different purpose for the campus and community:
