Yes. We have a contract with an outside vendor, Automatic Synch Technologies, to create close-captioned versions of existing video materials. Bear in mind that there is a cost associated with this kind of work because it's not done in-house. Tapes attract an additional fee of $54 each, and transcripts are not accepted with these media. Tapes and DVDs can take as long as three weeks to process, so you should plan accordingly.

Skype is a good option for conference calls when all parties have good high-speed Internet connections (if that's not the case, you should use the University's AT&T conference call service instead). We can walk you through the process of organizing a conference call using Skype, and show you how to record the calls if that's something you'll be wanting to do. Yes. The best way to start this process is to give us a call at (707) 826-3169 and tell us what you want to achieve, what materials you have now that could be incorporated into the seminar, and what you need to develop. We can advise on the best ways to develop (from a technical standpoint) that new material, and we can also talk about how you want to deliver the seminar (through an HSU site, through Moodle, or directly through Elluminate, HSU's web conferencing service.)
Yes. Classroom Technology Services can convert tapes into digital media for uploading to Moodle and other websites. Video materials used for instructional purposes must be close-captioned to meet HSU accessibility requirements, so if your video is not captioned already, we can arrange with our outside vendor, Automatic Synch Technologies, to do this; a small fee will apply to this work.
Yes, Classroom Technology Services can arrange to record both video and audio for guest speaker sessions. With appropriate permissions from the speaker and closed-captioning added, you can then upload it to Moodle for use in coursework or even to the wider web to share with anyone who may be interested in the subject matter. We can also arrange for any necessary format conversions and the closed-captioning through a third party vendor for a small fee.
