HSU offers central file storage for all current students, staff and faculty that's accessible over the web from on or off campus. If you often use computers from multiple locations (such as computer labs and offices), your HSU Network Folder is a great way to be able to access your files at any time.

If you are a current student, staff, or faculty member, you already have access to your Network Folder using your HSU User Name and Password, the same credentials you use to log in to all the other computer-based services you use at HSU. Your Network Folder is available to you for as long as you are associated with the University.

Lab computers and most office computers automatically connect to your Network Folder when you log in. Your Folder will show up in My Computer (Windows) or as a desktop icon (Macintosh). Students can also connect to the irNetwork Folder from off campus.

If your computer doesn't automatically connect to your Network Folder, try one of these options to access your documents:

Secure File Transfer Protocol (sftp)

Web Browser (read-only access)

WebDAV browser-based file sharing (Linux only)

Staff and faculty can also map a drive to their HSU Network Folder for on-campus use only. This makes your folder appear as if it is an additional hard drive on your computer. If you're interested in this option, your ITC can help you set it up.

Staff and faculty should contact their ITC for more on how to connect to their Network Folder from an office computer if the connection doesn't happen automatically. Students can also connect to their Network Folder from off campus. The following methods are available:

SFTP – Secure File Transfer (preferred method)

WebDAV - Web browser based file sharing

Web Browser (Read-only access)

Mapped Drives (You'll definitely need assistance from your ITC for this option)

Your documents:

By storing your HSU-related files in your Network Folder, you will be able to reach these files from home, office, and computer labs.

Your web page files:

Your HSU web page files are stored in the "public_html" folder within your Network Folder. You can also view these files at your website address, http://users.humboldt.edu/HSUUserName.

Faculty Shared Folder:

Faculty can store files they want to share with their students (or other faculty) in the Faculty Shared Folder. Students can access these files from anywhere with an Internet connection. Learn how to use the Faculty Shared Folder.
