We recommend the Goliath (http://www.webdav.org/goliath/) WebDAV application for OS X because it supports secure (HTTPS) WebDAV connections. You will need to have Goliath installed prior to proceeding. The following instructions are based on Goliath v1.0.x.

Configure Your WebDAV Connection To Your HSU Network Folder:

  1. Launch the Goliath application.
  2. A dialog box called "New WebDAV Connection" appears. (If it doesn't, select "New Connection..." from the Goliath File menu).
    1. Enter the Server Address:
      https://users.humboldt.edu/folders/
    2. Type in your HSU UserName and Password.
  3. Click on the "Advanced Settings" triangle so it expands to show additional settings. Check the box marked "Disable encoding of Macintosh Resources" and click on the "OK" button.
  4. Once your connection is established, a window will appear that contains a folder with your HSU UserName. Double click on that folder. This folder contains your HSU files. You can drag local files into your HSU Network Folder (upload files) or from your HSU Network Folder to your hard drive (download files).
  5. It will be useful to save this connection information so that you can easily call it up the next time you need to use it.
    1. Select "Save Connection..." from the Goliath File menu. Give it a name such as "HSUNetworkFolder" and pay attention to where it is being saved to make it easy to find later.
    2. The next time you want to get to your HSU folder, just double click on this connection file. It will launch Goliath and make the connection with all the settings you saved.

Tips:

  1. It is recommended that you create your files and folders on your computer instead of within the WebDAV folder and then copy them to the Network Folder. This helps prevent data loss if you lose a connection and keeps a copy on your local computer so you have a backup.
  2. If you want to delete your saved Network Folder connection, drag the connection file you made in step six above to the Trash.
  3. If you never use the "Faculty" folder, you can connect directly to your folder by adding your HSU UserName onto the end of the Server Address in step two above. (example: https://users.humboldt.edu/folders/abc123).
