Your Network Folder account is available for you to store your HSU-related files so you can access those files from home, the office, and computer labs for as long as you are with the University. If you are a current student, staff, or faculty member, you already have access to your Network Folder using your HSU User Name and Password, the same credentials you use to log in to email and at a computer lab.
The amount of space (or quota) you have in your HSU Network Folder is determined by your position at HSU.
| General |
CNRS |
|
| Students | 100 MB | 500 MB (1/2 GB) |
| Staff | 200 MB | |
| Faculty | 300 MB | 1000 MB (1 GB) |
To check your quota, log in to the Account Center, click on "Account Tools," and select "Current Quota and Usage."
When you're on campus, you can also check your usage as follows:
Windows Users - In My Computer, the "Total Size" (quota) and "Free Space" will be displayed next to your HSU Network Folder (typically, this is the U: drive).
Macintosh OS X - Open your HSU Network Folder in Finder. At the bottom of the window your free space is listed as: "xxx MB available." You can also see “Capacity” (quota) and “Available” space by doing a “Get Info” from the file menu on the Network Folder.
When you've used up 90% or more of your storage space, you will receive an email message letting you know that you have nearly reached your quota. You will also receive email notification if the amount of storage space available is reduced because of an enrollment status change or a previously-requested temporary increase is expiring. This is a good opportunity to do some housekeeping and clear out old files you no longer need.
If you move a large amount of data to your Network Folder when your available space is low, you may find that the file transfer fails. If you can't clear out enough files to make room for the incoming data, you can request a temporary increase in storage quota through to the end of the current semester. Requests for up to 50 MB over your default quota will be automatically granted and processed immediately, while larger requests are evaluated individually. You will be notified by email when a decision is made.
To request an increase, log into the Account Center, click on "Account Tools," and select "Current Quota and Usage."
Your account will remain active as long as you have an active affiliation with the University. When you leave or become an inactive user for whatever reason, you will no longer be able to access the files stored in your HSU Network Folder. It is YOUR responsibility to back up the files in your HSU Network Folder PRIOR to leaving the campus.
