*UPDATE* March 18, 2011 4:15PM The test started at 4pm and the campus secondary connection did not fail-over as expected. Internet ConnectionS were interrupted for up to 30 seconds, while roll back commands took place. TNS will be working with CENIC to restore automatic fail-over capabilities ASAP. Until this is issue is corrected, should a loss of our primary connection occur, the campus will not be able to access the Internet. More information will be posted here next week concerning further testing in early morning hours. -Original Message- If the upgraded secondary connection does not automatically fail-over, a noticeable lack of connectivity to the Internet will be observed until the Primary connection is restored. On-Campus connectivity will not be affected. This notice is being posted as precaution.

What happened: 
Earlier this month, the University's secondary Internet connection was upgraded from 155MMbps to 1Gbps. Unfortunately, resources to test the fail-over from primary to secondary were not available. HSU Network Technicians will perform a simulated failure of the Primary Internet connection to verify the Secondary link is fully functional.
