The documents described and linked below describe the standards required for all telecommunications and networking infrastructure projects.

Telecommunications Infrastructure Planning Standards (TIPS)

The primary purpose of the TIPS [1]documentation is to provide a standardized approach for the development of intra- and inter-building campus telecommunications infrastructure and the physical plant systems essential to achieving mission-critical CSU connectivity goals. Following TIPS requirements will also ensure the development of adequate intra-campus infrastructures to support high-speed connections with other CSU sites, with telecommunications providers, and with the Internet.

CSU Telecommunications Rooms Standards

The Service Spaces Section (2.3.2) [1] of the TIPS document deals specifically with the standards required for Telecommunications Room design and construction.

Outside Conduits

The Underground Structures Section [2] of the Telecommunications Infrastructure Project Construction Specifications document details the required methods and practices for work involving outside conduits and vaults.

Faceplate and Jack Labeling

The Humboldt State University Faceplate and Jack Labeling Standards [3] document describes the required methods and practices for faceplate, jack, cable, and termination block labeling.

Cabling

The Cabling [4] section of the Telecommunications Infrastructure Project Construction Specifications document details the standards required for the installation of horizontal and vertical cabling on campus.

Materials and Methods

The Methods and Materials [5] section of the Telecommunications Infrastructure Project Construction Specifications document specifies the materials required for inner duct, cable trays, ladder racking, etc installed on campus, as well as the installation methods to be followed

Acceptance Testing

The Acceptance Testing [6] section of the Telecommunications Infrastructure Project Construction Specifications document describes the tests to be performed and the documentation to be provided by the General Contractor or Subcontractor prior to acceptance by Telecommunications & Network Services of the work performed.

General Requirements

This General Requirements [7] section of the Telecommunications Infrastructure Project Construction Specifications document details any additional requirements imposed on the General Contractor for the work to be performed.

The General Installation Concerns [8] document reflects concerns and issues encountered on past projects that should be borne in mind when undertaking new projects.
