Accounts on Central Servers [3] - All faculty are provided with an HSU User Name [4] and Password for the myHumboldt [5] portal to enable access to email [6] (webmail.humboldt.edu [7]), our Learning Management System (Moodle [8]) and more for the entire time they are associated with HSU. Your User Name and Password also gives you access to the user.web [9] and file storage [10](Network Folders),
Activate Your Account/Change Password [11] - Direct connection to the Account Center [12] to activate your HSU User Name and Password.
Computer Hardware Guidelines [13] - HSU suggested minimum computer configurations. Faculty may find these standards useful for student advising.
Computer Labs [14] - Information on interdisciplinary and discipline specific computer labs including lab schedules, hardware and software, problem reporting, how to schedule labs, and printing in labs.
Email [15] - Learn about our email system. Find instructions [16] for setting up Outlook, Mac Mail and other email clients. Sync your email and calendar to your SmartPhone [17].
Faculty Development Opportunities [18] - Teaching resources, calendar of events, funding opportunities.
Faculty Center [19] - Submit grades, view class lists with email addresses, student schedules, magic number lists, instructor class schedule, student academic records (transcript), etcetera.
Information Security [20] - Security issues that may affect various computing activities at Humboldt State University.
Lab & Smart Classroom Software Requests [21] - When you schedule time in a Humboldt State University computing lab or smart classroom, you'll need to ensure the software you need is installed in that facility. If it's not, you'll need to submit a Software Request Form [22] in good time ahead of your classes to enable ITS to make the necessary adjustments.
Moodle [23] - HSU's Learning Management System allows you to engage your students in an online format. Share files, connect with forums, administer quizes, use the gradebook, and more. Log in at http://www.humboldt.edu/myhumboldt [23] and click the Moodle icon in the upper right-hand corner above your name. Network Folders [10] - Access your files anywhere you have an Internet connection. Share files with your students in a lab with the Faculty Shared Folder [25].
Passwords [26] - Your HSU User Name Password is the key to protecting the data you have access to (including your email and student records). You should choose a strong password [27]. Passwords expire [28] at least once a year, depending on which systems you access.
Policy for Responsible Computing [29] - HSU Appropriate Use Policy, World Wide Web Policy, and Conditions of Use for HSU central servers.
PowerPoint Presentation Guidelines [30] - Techniques for successful presentations.
Quota - The amount of file space you have on each system varies. Typically, you can request more space via an online form: Email [31], Faculty Web Sites & Network Folders [32], Departmental Web Sites [31].
Smart Classrooms [33] & Equipment Checkout - Many classrooms [34] are equipped with computer and projection equipment. If you are teaching in a room that isn't, you can check out equipment [35] for your class.
Virus Protection [36] - Your computer can get a virus from another computer, through email, the web, USB drives and other portable media. Protect your computer from viruses by taking advantage of HSU's campus-wide license for Sophos Antivirus [37]and by only downloading programs from sources you trust.
Webmail [38] - Access your email by logging into myHumboldt [5] from any computer that has a web browser and access to the Internet.
Web Conferencing [39] - HSU licenses the Elluminate [40]web conferencing system for distance meetings and meetings with students working in the field.
