Mac Mail may be used as a standalone email client for GMail [1]. If you've never launched and configured Mac Mail, follow the steps below to do that. You'll also need to enable and configure the Advanced IMAP Controls Lab [2] in GMail, or you'll get multiple copies of mail in your All Mail folder.

Step 1: Launch Mac Mail |

Step 2: Complete the Welcome to Mail screen:
Click Continue.

Step 3: Fill out the Incoming Mail Server screen:
Click Continue.
|

Step 4: Fill out the Outgoing Mail Server screen:
Click Continue.
|

Step 5: On the Account Summary screen, double-check your settings and click the Create button.

To verify your settings after you've configured your mail client, go to Mail > Preferences... and select the Accounts tab. The screen should look like this: |
