System Status
Make sure the machine is as up to date as it can be and that you have administrative access to it.
Configuring theComputerStep 1: Click on the Wi-Fi icon in the status menu bar.

| Step 2: Ensure Wi-Fi is turned ON.
|
|
| Step 3: Click on the Wi-Fi icon in the status menu bar again and connect the Wi-Fi to HSUWireless if the connection has not already been made automatically.

Step 4: Open a browser If this machine has never connected to wireless at HSU before, there a couple more one-time steps you may need to take when you first attempt to connect the machine to the wireless network:

Step 6: Download the profile configuration file from https://www.humboldt.edu/its/sites/its/files/docs/certs/signed-hsu-owned.mobileconfig by right clicking and selecting Save Link As |

Step 7: Save the file to the desktop, making sure to keep the default filename signed-hsu-owned.mobileconfig, and click Save.

|
Step 8: Locate the file signed-hsu-owned.mobileconfig you just downloaded to the desktop and right click on the file, then select Open With and then System Preferences.

|
Step 9: A Profiles window will appear. Ensure the message Install HSU OSX 10.7 Secure Wireless Profile - HSU OWNED? is displayed, and click Show Profile.

Step 10: Ensure that the profile is authentic by checking that it:
Click Install IMPORTANT: Do not install if the profile is not signed by wireless.humboldt.edu AND marked Verified.

| Step 11: Enter the Administrative User Name and Password for your computer and click OK.
|
|
|
Step 12: Close the Profiles window.
|
|
|
|
|
Step 14: Click on the Wi-Fi icon in the Status Menu Bar again and then click Open Network Preferences.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Step 17: Enter the computer's Administrative User Name and Password when prompted, then click OK.
|
|
|
|
|
Step 19: Log out of the admin account on this machine.
|
To complete the process, you'll need to discuss with the user how they generally use the laptop, so that you can advise them on which login process to use, depending on where and how they are connecting with the machine.
Here are the two usage types:

Note: If this device has never connected to any HSU network, or the user has been away for more than 30 days, they will need to accept the HSU Appropriate Use Policy by signing the document digitally using their HSU User Name and Password.
