System Status
The secure wireless network enables staff, faculty, instructors and graduate students to take advantage of key benefits using their HSU-owned systems:
Note: Packets sourced from a secure wireless IP (except students) are allowed by default. Packets sourced from another network, such as the campus wired network, to a secure wireless IP are denied by default.
For example: RDP connections from a wireless device to a wired network PC will work, but users will NOT be able to RDP from the wired network PC to their wireless device.
These processes detail the procedure to setup secure wireless access on a machine that is managed centrally by Active Directory. Although you can make it work in other ways, following this procedure ensures that managed machines will be able to contact the identity management servers prior to logging a user onto the domain.
If the user's OS isn't listed above, it is not supported by the HSUWireless-Secure network. Such systems will need to be configured using User-owned Connection instructions.
On devices running iOS or Mac OS X 10.7 and up, configuration profiles are XML files that may contain settings to manage wireless connections, email accounts, passcode options, and many other functions. The HSUWireless-Secure profile contains specific information that enables the device to connect to the secure wireless network and must be installed in order to use the network; it does not access anything else on the device (passwords, contact lists, etc).
Removing a profile will remove all settings associated with that profile so, if the profile was used to configure an HSU secure wireless connection, removing it will remove those settings, and the user will no longer have access to the network.
To remove a configuration profile safely under iOS:
To remove a configuration profile safely under OSX 10.7:
Creating personal connection profiles requires the use of OSX 10.7 server.
NOTE: It is possible to use the HSU _adm account to log onto the machine while using your regular HSU User Name and Password to connect to secure wireless, but you will need to initiate the connection manually.
