In collaboration with all CSU campuses, the Chancellor’s Office has developed a web-based information security awareness training course designed to provide staff and faculty with the information they need to secure information resources. This course will help Humboldt State University employees safeguard personal information as well as information stored under the aegis of the University.

The awareness training covers the following topics, and has been reviewed by the CFA and CSUEU.

• Protecting yourself against malware and other threats
• Keeping your email and mobile devices secure
• Coming up with a strong password you won't forget
• The care and management of confidential information
• How to avoid becoming a victim of social engineering
• Guidelines for surfing the web safely

All HSU faculty and staff are required to take information security awareness training; the course is delivered by Workplace Answers Compliance Training, so instructions on how to take the training will come in an email from workplaceanswers.com.

The course can be taken on computers with the following operating systems and browsers:

Windows XP/Vista/7

• Internet Explorer 7.0 or later OR
• Firefox 1.5 or later

Mac OSX 10.2 or later

• Safari 2.0 or later OR
• Firefox 1.5 or later
