Sophos Anti-Virus is freely available for everyone associated with the University to use on campus and on their personal devices. Up-to-date virus protection is a pre-requisite for network and Internet access on campus.
Sophos Anti-Virus runs on Windows and Macintosh computers. You'll need one of the following operating systems to install it:
You must have Sophos or another HSU-approved antivirus program installed in order to connect to the HSU wireless and ResNet networks.
ITS does not provide support for Sophos Anti-Virus. Please contact the vendor for assistance with the software.
Technical staff notified of a potential malware infection situation should follow the latest version of the posted compromised information security procedure.
Review the comprehensive security information for IT staff.
For University-owned computers, ITS personnel will ensure that protection is installed, configured, and kept updated.
For personal computers, you can download and install the software yourself. You'll need your HSU User Name and Password to access the download.
For users of University-owned equipment, your antivirus protection is kept up-to-date and properly configured by ITS.
If you are running Sophos Anti-Virus on your personal computer, you should make sure the software is configured to download updates automatically and download a new version when you're reminded to do so by University Notices and/or emails from the ITS office.
For University-owned computers, ITS will ensure that protection is installed, configured, and kept updated.
For personal computers, the software can be downloaded from the HSU network.
