iPhone Configuration Instructions

ActiveSync is the iPhone's native way to sync E-Mail, Contacts, and Calendars with Zimbra Collaboration Suite.

  1. Tap Settings, then Mail, Contacts, Calendars then Add Account.
  2. Select Microsoft Exchange.
  3. Enter your email address (e.g. “abc123@humboldt.edu”) in the Email box.
  4. Enter your HSU User Name (e.g. “abc123”) in the Username box.
  5. Enter your password in the Password box.
  6. Enter a description, such as "HSU Email"
  7. Tap Next
  8. If you receive a message about a security certificate, tap Accept.
  9. The iPhone will now try to automatically discover your Zimbra server. You will need to enter your server information manually. It will prompt you for the following information:
  10. Server: mail.humboldt.edu
  11. Tap Next
  12. Choose which type(s) of data you would like to synchronize: Mail, Contacts, and Calendars.
  13. Tap Save
  14. Now tap the home button and go into Mail. You should see your new account appear, and it should show your folders and email messages within a few moments. Congratulations! Email is now set up!

Note that by default, only 3 days of email is synchronized. To synchronize more, go into Settings, then Mail, Contacts, Calendars, select your Exchange account, and tap on Mail days to sync.
