Humboldt State University recommends the use of the SSH Secure Shell application for Windows for secure file uploads. Please download and install SSH Secure Shell before following the instructions below to transfer a file. The instructions are based on SSH Secure Shell 3.2.2.

Note: Command line access is not allowed on the Central Web Server for terminal or SSH connections.

1. Open SSH Secure File Transfer.
2. Click "Quick Connect" on the toolbar.
3. Enter the following information:
   1. Host Name: www.humboldt.edu
   2. User Name: Your HSU User Name (e.g., abc123)
4. Click "Connect"
5. If prompted, click "Yes" to save the identifying host key.
6. Enter your HSU Password

You may find it useful to save this connection information so that you can easily find it the next time you need to use it. Here's how:

1. Click File > Profiles > Add Profile
2. Name your connection (Central HSU Web Server or something easily identifiable).
3. Click "Add to Profiles"
4. The next time you want to get to your HSU folder, open SSH Secure File Transfer, and select File > Profiles > Central HSU Web Server (or whatever name you gave the connection).
