Activating Your Humboldt Account

All new faculty, staff, and students must complete the Account Activation Checklist before they can access email and other computer accounts. Here’s how:

Step 1: Log into the Welcome Center

  1. Go to http://welcome.humboldt.edu/new
  2. Enter your Humboldt User Name.
  3. Enter the Authorization Code provided in the letter or email you received.
  4. Click Submit.
  5. Review the CSU Responsible Use Policy and click Accept.
  6. Review the information about registering your cell phone number for future password reset assistance and click Next Message
  7. You'll see a message about your security questions. Click Close and move on to Step 2 below.

Step 2: Security Questions

  1. Select three questions from the options provided and enter answers to them.
  2. Click Submit.
  3. Click Next to set your password.
  4. In the Create a new password section, review the password requirements
  5. Type your password in the New Password box
  6. Type your password a second time to confirm
  7. Click Submit. You should see a message stating "You have successfully reset your password".
  8. Click Exit Kiosk.
  9. You can now access myHumboldt and other Humboldt services to which you are entitled.

Step 3: Set your Password

Note: your password expires at least once a year. Read more about Humboldt’s password requirements.

Step 4: Register your cell phone number

If we have your cell phone number on file, we can reset your password or retrieve your Humboldt User Name in a matter of seconds by sending you a text message. So it's important that we have an up-to-date cell phone number on file for you.

If your cell phone number is not already stored in PeopleSoft, or if you need to check whether the number listed is up to date, go directly to your Personal Information record (you may need to log in first). Click the Add a Phone Number button, select Mobile Number from the drop-down menu, enter your current cellphone number, and click Save.

Also, if you haven't provided us with an emergency text number, please take this opportunity to enter this as well, so we know how to contact you in the event of an on-campus emergency.
