Exercise Science/Wellness Management

The increased recognition of the role physical activity plays in the prevention and treatment of lifestyle-related diseases, improved quality of life, and the role of conditioning for athletes makes exercise science a dynamic and exciting field of study. There is a demand for individuals with a background in fitness and wellness management, and exercise programming. Humboldt offers an exciting and challenging program of study designed to prepare entry level professionals for careers as corporate, clinical, community, and commercial health and fitness specialists, as strength and conditioning coaches, or preparation for graduate school in Exercise Science or similar academic area.

A modern, and fully equipped human performance laboratory provides an opportunity for you to gain experience and skill in fitness testing, body composition assessment, nutrition analysis, and individualized exercise prescription design.

The exercise science and wellness management program option prepares students for certifications offered by the American College of Sports Medicine and the National Strength and Conditioning Association. The final phase of your program is an internship with an agency that sponsors a program in your area of interest.
