The Institute of Health and Human Performance

The Institute of Health and Human Performance is a research institute designed to promote health, wellness, and performance across the lifespan. It serves as a bridge between academic programs in Kinesiology, and research and practice.

The goals of the Institute are:

  • To contribute to the advancement of knowledge through research related to health, physical therapy and human performance.
  • To promote training and service collaborations within the University, with other institutions, and with community partners.
  • To enhance undergraduate and graduate educational opportunities related to health, physical activity and human performance.
  • To increase access to relevant internships and other training opportunities for both undergraduate and graduate students in Kinesiology.
  • Encourage collaboration between other research efforts and propose new areas of research and scholarship.
  • To serve Humboldt State University student, faculty, staff and the larger community of the North Coast in areas of disease prevention, health promotion, injury prevention/management and performance enhancement.
