Scholarship Information

Sue Grigsby Scholarship

Humboldt alumna Sue Grigsby (B.A.) of Everett, Washington, has made a generous gift to Humboldt State University in the form of a scholarship. This scholarship will be awarded to a student in the Department of Kinesiology and Recreation Administration. A student interested in applying for the scholarship should submit a letter of application explaining how he/she meets the criteria listed below. A current resume is also required. Submit application to the Health and Physical Education Department office.

Scholarship Criteria:

Kinesiology major.
Undergraduate student who has completed at least 30 semester units and no more than 95 semester units at Humboldt State University.
Minimum 3.00 cumulative GPA.
Demonstrated academic promise, good citizenship, and ethics as determined by the scholarship committee.

Scholarship Amount: $750. Award is non-renewable.

Winifred Van Hagen, Rosalind Cassidy, John F. Kennedy, and James Echols Scholarships

In order to qualify for one of these scholarships, an applicant must:

Be a major in Health, Physical Education, Recreation or Dance
Have completed (or be enrolled in) a minimum of 60 semester/90 quarter units of college work
Be a resident of California and attend a California 2 or 4 year college/university
Have a minimum 3.0 overall GPA
Be a CAHPERD member
for a minimum of 60 days prior to application.

Criteria for selection includes:

Scholastic proficiency: Minimum of 3.0 GPA required
Leadership ability: In school, community, and professional activities
Personal qualities: Enthusiasm, cooperativeness, high degree of individual responsibility, initiative, evidence of good personal relations, and the ability to work with others
