Scholarship Information

Sue Grigsby Scholarship

Humboldt alumna Sue Grigsby (B.A.) of Everett, Washington, has made a generous gift to Humboldt State University in the form of a scholarship. This scholarship will be awarded to a student in the Department of Kinesiology and Recreation Administration. A student interested in applying for the scholarship should submit a letter of application explaining how he/she meets the criteria listed below. A current resume is also required. Submit application to the Health and Physical Education Department office.

Scholarship Criteria:

Scholarship Amount: $750. Award is non-renewable.

Winifred Van Hagen, Rosalind Cassidy, John F. Kennedy, and James Echols Scholarships

In order to qualify for one of these scholarships, an applicant must:

  • Be a major in Health, Physical Education, Recreation or Dance
  • Have completed (or be enrolled in) a minimum of 60 semester/90 quarter units of college work
  • Be a resident of California and attend a California 2 or 4 year college/university
  • Have a minimum 3.0 overall GPA
  • Be a CAHPERD member
    for a minimum of 60 days prior to application.

Criteria for selection includes:

  • Scholastic proficiency: Minimum of 3.0 GPA required
  • Leadership ability: In school, community, and professional activities
  • Personal qualities: Enthusiasm, cooperativeness, high degree of individual responsibility, initiative, evidence of good personal relations, and the ability to work with others
