Group Tour Opportunities
The HSU Marine Lab offers opportunities for people of all ages to explore our local ocean and beach ecosystems. The Marine Naturalist is able to provide fun and engaging educational activities focused around our local marine environments.
All tours are by appointment only, including self-guided tours. Groups of 15-20 people are easily accommodated. Large groups must be divided into smaller groups.
Please e-mail completed Tour Request Form to our Marine Naturalist at firstname.lastname@example.org or fax to (707) 826-3682. We recommend contacting the Marine Naturalist at least two weeks prior to your desired tour date to ensure availability.

Self guided tour of the Marine Lab:
Detailed interpretive signs near each of our seven aquaria, two touch tanks, and various other displays will introduce you to the animals that live at the Marine Lab as you explore at your own pace. $1 per participant.
Guided tour of the Marine Lab:
The Marine Naturalist will guide your group through our seven aquaria and touch tanks and answer all your questions. Tours can be tailored to meet curriculum requirements or area of special interest. 30-45 minutes. $2 per participant.
Presentation/power point on your choice of several topics ranging from whales to tidepools. Presentation can be tailored to meet curriculum requirements or area of special interest. 15-30 minutes. $20 flat fee per group.
Discover our strange invertebrates through the lens of a microscope. Live animals your group can observe include sea stars, anemones, clams, sea cucumbers, urchins and more. 30-45 minutes. $2 per participant, $20 minimum.
Explore Trinidad’s tide pools with the Marine Naturalist. Includes a short lesson on how to be a responsible tide pooler. Depends on the tide cycle and may not be available on your desired date. 60-90 minutes. $3 per participant, $20 minimum.
Work with the Marine Naturalist to create your own special program.

Marine Science Summer Program
The goal of our marine science summer program is to offer children a hands on opportunity to learn about and explore our diverse marine habitats. Each program includes observation of live marine animals, a walk to a local beach and a craft or project to bring home.
