Math Diagnostic Test Program (MDTP) for Fall 2013

 

Are you ready for calculus? If you’re majoring in science, math or engineering, then you will be required to take at least one calculus class for your major program. If you do not require math remediation, you did not take and pass the AP Calculus AB exam with a 3 or better or you have not completed a transferable pre-calculus class with trigonometry at another college, you will not be eligible to take calculus during your first term at HSU. Instead, you will be placed into pre-calculus (MATH 115) your first term at HSU. For most major programs, MATH 115 itself is not required for the program, but you must take and pass MATH 115 to demonstrate readiness for calculus.

Incoming new students who have studied pre-calculus coursework have the option to bypass MATH 115 by passing the MDTP calculus readiness test given on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at 10:00AM. Passing the MDTP makes you eligible to take calculus right away. You must preregister to take the MDTP. To preregister, send an email to testing@humboldt.edu with subject “2013 HSU MDTP Registration” and include the following information in the body of the email:


Last name, First name
HSU Student ID Number (XXXXXXXXX)
Preferred email address
Preferred phone number
Requests for special accommodations

The exam has 40 multiple choice questions and takes approximately one hour to complete. No calculators or notes are allowed. Bring several #2 pencils. Scratch paper will be provided.
