Portrait of Sarah Schneider - Environmental Policy, Class of 2010

Sarah Schneider

Sarah is currently an intern with the Green Campus Program. When she's not on the quad touting the importance of switching to CFLs and power strips, she can be found hiking, biking or engulfed in a marathon of "The Alfred Hitchcock Hour."

Why HSU?

"I chose HSU because of its acclaimed environmental science program. Interestingly, my dad almost studied wildlife management at Humboldt State in 1967, but he changed his mind about becoming a ranger. It was not until I decided to enroll here that my dad shared that story with me. And when he came to visit me he was so blown away by Humboldt's campus that I could tell he was a bit sad he never came to school here."

Who is your favorite professor? Why?

"I just adore Carolyn Frazee. She is a remarkable, captivating and hilarious woman. Carolyn has been a wealth of inspiration and encouragement. She has served as one of my role models since my first semester at HSU. I learned an incredible amount of useful information from both her ENVS 309 Natural Resources Conflict Resolution and PSCI 412 Legal Research & Environmental Law courses, and will always be grateful to her for providing me with the motivation to keep on moving forward."

What are your post-graduation plans?

"I would eventually like to go on to graduate school to continue studying water resources policy. More specifically, I would really like to get involved in water rights issues pertaining to indigenous peoples. But directly after graduating, my aunt and I plan on taking a pilgrimage to Nepal where we will stay in a Buddhist Monastery."
