While Religious Studies is Kevin's major, he's also working on a triple minor in Anthropology, Philosophy and Psychology. "Location was important to me — HSU's close proximity to the redwoods (it's embedded in them), the beaches and rivers, and the small but mindful local community. The atmosphere of HSU is simultaneously peacefully contemplative and academically rigorous, a combination that provides for great mental balance when dealing with the rigors of university life."
"The Religious Studies Department provides opportunities for students to participate in a variety of one-unit workshops, where students can directly experience and interact with a specific religious community or religious practice, rather than merely reading about it or discussing it in a classroom situation. This type of learning greatly rounds out book knowledge with the real world."
"The most memorable thing for me has been making friends. However, it has by no means only been with other students that I have made friends. In many ways, it is friendships with my professors that seem as though they will provide the more lasting memories. It is an incredible learning experience to befriend a teacher and to realize that you may have just as much to offer them as they have to offer you."
