Why did you choose HSU?

"When I was originally looking into Humboldt State, I was attracted to it because of the weather, the beautiful scenery and because of all the revolutionary movement so many of the students seemed to be interested in.

"Then I visited campus in my junior year of high school and I fell in love. I guess it was mostly the students that convinced me I wanted to spend the next four years of my life here, everyone was so kind.

"Then, to top it off, HSU offers Gender Neutral housing which seems as close to perfect as could be possible. In the end, I chose Humboldt because this is the only school that felt "right" to me and I was hoping it could become my new home."

What's your favorite class at HSU?

"My favorite class is definitely History 110 but I feel like any class could be amazing if it were taught like my history class is. My professor, Dr. Gayle Olson-Raymer, is the most amazing instructor I've ever had and even though it's a fairly long class period, every lesson flies by."

Have any tips for new students?

"Seeing as I am one, I would feel a little awkward giving out advice … but here are some things that have helped me: never be shy to talk to anyone, in general people are really nice. Try to avoid starting the weekend on Wednesday, not only does it mess up the week, but it ruins the weekend as well. And like one of my friends from home said, 'Half of life is just showing up' and while I know she wasn't talking about class, I think it applies here as well :)"
