Scholarships are available to music majors and non-majors.  Scholarships can only be applied for on-line.  Recipients of Music Department Scholarships agree to participate fully in the music program, including playing or singing in at least two regular department ensembles each semester, one of which will be determined by the faculty of the Music Department.  Music Department Scholarship recipients will remain a student in good academic standing throughout the year and make consistent progress toward graduation.  More information can be found at the following website: http://www.humboldt.edu/finaid/types_of_aid.html

Albert and Mildred Van Duzer Scholarship

$1,500 award is available to currently enrolled, full-time Humboldt State University students majoring or active in the visual and performing arts. The number of awards varies.

Allen Music Scholarship

Awards of up to $1,000 are available for continuing Humboldt State University music majors. 

Maxine & MacDougal Armstrong Music Student Endowed Scholarship

Merit-based awards, up to $1,000 are available to music majors.

Bancroft Scholarship, Dwight & Lavina

Awards are up to $2,000. This award is available to upper-division, full-time music or business majors who are graduates of a Humboldt or Del Norte County high school.

Barlow Music Award

Awards are up to $2,000 and are available to entering or continuing music students.

Carla Peterson Powell Voice Scholarship

$1000 award is available to HSU voice majors (any voice type); award is based solely upon vocal talent and potential.

Deborah Clasquin Memorial Scholarship

Preference will be given to music major piano emphasis and serious piano student. Awards up to $1,000.

Fulkerson Family String Instrument Scholarship

$500 award is available to a full-time student majoring in Music at HSU with demonstrated interest in string instruments, including, but not limited to the cello, violin, viola, bass, with the exception of guitar and piano.

Humboldt Pipe Organ Scholarship

This scholarship is available to full-time students at HSU in academic good standing who have demonstrated an interest in the pipe organ. Preference will be given to music majors.  One $1,000 award is available.

Kenneth Hannaford Memorial Scholarship

$1,000 award is available to HSU voice majors with potential to contribute significantly to the department through participation in at least two HSU vocal ensembles.

Music Department Scholarship

Number and amount of awards vary. Awards are available in the following areas for HSU music majors and non-majors: piano, brass, voice, woodwind, percussion, string or composition.

Mary and Robert Richards Scholarship

Two $450 awards are available to HSU music students who demonstrate motivation and potential.

OTHER FINANCIAL AID:

In addition to these music scholarships, other types of financial aid are available; such as Pell Grants, State University Grants, and Guaranteed Student Loans, which are generally available throughout the year to all eligible students.
