July 8-12 (Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.)
Instructor: Keith Schneider
With a focus on the vessel form, we will explore a wide variety of surface techniques unique to the low-fire process.
Wheel throwing and hand-building techniques will be demonstrated, and we will learn about the varied uses of underglazes, stains, slip, glazes and overglazes, and how to apply them to your own work.
Electric kiln loading and firing, raku firing, as well as post-fire finishes will also be discussed.
Contemporary as well as historical examples will be shown to expose you to some the many options that are possible.
Basic wheel throwing and/or handbuilding experience a plus, but not required.
