Scholarships

A number of nursing scholarships are available exclusively to Humboldt students:

Awarded by the Nursing Department

  1. St. Joseph Hospital Volunteers Scholarship (1 award of $1,000)

The St. Joseph Hospital Volunteers Scholarship is established to support the education of a student pursuing a baccalaureate degree in nursing at Humboldt State University.
Requirements:

  • Applicant must be a Nursing major
  • Applicant must be of Junior or Senior Standing (as determined by HSU)
  • Applicant must not graduate before May 2011
  • Applicant Minimum overall GPA of 3.0
  • Preference will be given to applicants intending to pursue a nursing career with St. Joseph Health Systems in Humboldt County
  1. Lillian E. Woodward Nursing Scholarship (2 awards of $500.00)

The Lillian E. Woodward Nursing Scholarship is established to support the education of a student pursuing a baccalaureate degree in nursing at Humboldt State University.
Requirements: 

  • Applicant must be a Nursing or pre-Nursing major enrolled full time (12 + units) at HSU
  • Applicant must not graduate before May 2011
  • Minimum overall GPA of 2.5
  1. Geriatric Nursing Scholarship (2 awards of $500.00)

The Geriatric Nursing Scholarship is established to support a student showing a demonstrable interest in the field of geriatric nursing at Humboldt State University.
Requirements: 

  • Applicant must be a Nursing major at HSU
  • Applicant must not graduate before May 2011
  • Minimum overall GPA of 3.0
  1. Mad River Community Hospital Scholarships in Nursing (1 award of $500.00)

The Mad River Community Hospital Scholarship is established to support a student majoring in nursing who has completed at least one semester of the nursing major coursework.
Requirements: 

  • Applicant must be a Nursing major at HSU
  • Applicant must not graduate before May 2011
  • Applicant must have completed at least one semester of major course work


All applications must be received in the Department of Nursing by Thursday, April 22, 2010, at 4:00pm.  Applications are available online or in the Department of Nursing.  Emailed applications will NOT be accepted.
 
Awarded by the Financial Aid Office
The scholarships awarded through the Financial Aid Office require the FAFSA be completed by March 2nd each year. No additional application is necessary. The Financial Aid Office will select, notify the students, and process the disbursement of the scholarships.
