Modern Documentary:
Examining New Trends and Controversies in Non-Fiction Film

Non-fiction film has come a long way since the “Why We Fight” series and this course examines current trends, controversies, and the changing definition of documentary. The genre’s renewed fervor can be traced to filmmakers such as Errol Morris and Michael Moore, whose works, along with those of other emerging filmmakers, will be screened and discussed. Particular emphasis will be placed on documentary’s role in social justice movements. The instructor, a documentary filmmaker and professor, gives unique insight.
