The Osher Institute of Lifelong Learning (OLLI) program at Humboldt State University welcomes dynamic and engaging instructors to teach classes. Classes in various disciplines will be considered.
OLLI brings together experienced and interesting professionals with a motivated group of learners in 4- to 6-week classes or shorter workshops. Classes have no homework or tests, and the most successful classes are those which are interactive and which respect and include the life experience of the members.
Most classes are held at the Humboldt Bay Aquatic Center on the waterfront in Eureka, and are offered weekdays and weekends, in the daytime or evening.
Course proposals are collected and reviewed by the OLLI Coordinator and members of the OLLI Curriculum Committee (currently Candee Fetsch Kimbrell, Rollie Lamberson, Kathy Layton, Maureen Murphy, Judith Rucker, Janina Shayne, Gerry Tollefson and Jane Woodward). Contact the OLLI Coordinator at (707) 826-3743 if you are interested in joining the committee.
Course selection criteria are based upon the following standards. The course ideally will:
Course proposals need not address all these standards for selection — however, the more the better!
View examples of upcoming classes here or in the OLLI section of the HSU Extended Education bulletin [available online, or in various locations throughout Humboldt County, or call (707) 826-5880 to receive your copy in the mail.]
