Fall 2012 Dates & Fees

 

All Students

  • Confirm that your email account is accurate and reliable in student center
  • Move-in day for residence halls: Tuesday, August 14, 2012
  • Sign up for orientation during the reservation period: March 1-June 3, 2012 in student center.
  • Fall Classes Begin: Monday, August 20
  • Welcome Home to Humboldt: August 20 - September 7. Three weeks of events for all HSU students!

 

Transfer Students - HOOP (mandatory) - follow steps in order

  1. Check that you have met all transfer deadlines included in your Admissions packet.
  2. Sign up for your orientation session. The sign-up function in Student Center will be enabled on March 1, 2012 and is mandatory for all incoming students. The deadline to register for orientation is July 1, 2012.
    • While in Student Center, check that your email account listed in your "personal information" section is accurate and reliable. We send important information only to that email account.
  3. You are required to complete the Humboldt Online Orientation Program (HOOP). Please visit the "HOOP" link on the right --> in order to learn more about that process now, which includes advising & registering.

 

 

Freshmen - HOP (mandatory) - follow steps in order

  1. Check that you have met all freshmen deadlines included in your Admissions packet.
  2. Sign up for your orientation session. The sign-up function in Student Center will be enabled on March 1, 2012 and is mandatory for all incoming students. The deadline to register for orientation is June 3, 2012.
    • Family & Guest Orientation sign-up is available during this step.
    • While in student center, check that your email account listed in your "personal information" section is accurate and reliable. We send important information only to that email account.
  3. Register for your first-semester classes at HSU* during the registration window: Monday, June 11-Friday, June 29, 2012.
    • *Registration window open to those who have met all deadlines. Students who have not met deadlines will register in August during the HOP session.
    • We invite you to create your own ideal schedule of classes from home using our tutorials.
    • Tuition and fees will be due upon registration of classes and any balances owed will be displayed in your student center.
    • You will review and finalize your schedule with help from peer counselors, professional staff, and faculty members during HOP.
  4. Prepare to attend HOP on August 15-17, 2012. You must attend the entire mandatory on-campus HOP orientation session. Family members and guests are not permitted to attend any HOP activities. Instead, they can signed up for our optional Family & Guest Orientation during step #1.
    • Mandatory activities take place throughout each day.
    • HOP begins on August 15 at 8am and ends on August 17 at 5pm. No exceptions will be granted.
    • Missing any mandatory HOP activities may result in academic holds being placed on your account.
    • Family members and guests are not invited to attend any HOP activities. Learn more and sign up for the optional Family & Guest Orientation.
    • Move-in day for the residence halls is Tuesday, August 14th. For any questions about housing, please contact the HSU Housing Office directly at 707.826.3451 or housing@humboldt.edu.
    • Classes begin on Monday, August 20, 2012.

 

Family members & guests - FG (optional)

  • Three-day session: August 15-17, 2012
    • Student is required to sign up family members and guests during orientation sign-up: March 1-June 3, 2012.
    • Family and guests are not invited to attend HOP activities.
    • Family & Guest Orientation is optional and is available at a cost of $40 per person.
    • Official itinerary will be available during check-in

Orientation Fees for Students

  • A one-time non-refundable $50.00 Student Orientation, Advising & Registration fee is included in the first semester fees of all new Humboldt students upon course registration. 
  • This fee covers all advising and registration services and a university catalog.
  • Please check your Student Center regularly for any outstanding balances. For information on all HSU fees, please go to Financial Aid.
  • The optional Family & Guest Orientation is available at an extra $40 per person charge. These fees must be paid one week prior to attending HOP in August.

 

Cancellation and Change Policy

All reservations must be made by June 5th or your admission to HSU will be revoked. After that, all cancellations and changes must be made at least 7 days before each session.  Changes must be submitted electronically by completing the online HOP Reservation Change Form.
