THE CALIFORNIA ASSOCIATION FOR FIRE ECOLOGY (CAFE)
in association with Humboldt State University, announces the Pacific Coast Fire Conference: Changing Fire Regimes, Goals and Ecosystems. Fire and fuel managers, planners, implementers, resource specialists, fire ecologists, decision makers, researchers, students and fire fighters should all plan to attend – mark your calendars now!
Recent high-profile fires exhibiting extraordinary size, severity, or urban-interface effects have captured public attention in California and the Pacific Northwest. Past management activities, weather extremes, and community development patterns may all have contributed to fire spread and effects.
This conference will provide a timely forum for the exchange of information on the ecology and management of fire adapted and affected ecosystems along the Pacific Coast of the United States and adjacent Canada and Mexico in a time of changing climate and rapid population growth.
The conference will feature opening and closing plenary sessions related to the conference theme. Concurrent sessions of invited and contributed papers will cover a broad range of topics. ABSTRACTS MAY NOW BE SUBMITTED.
The abstract submission deadline
has been extended to Aug. 4.
Workshops and short courses, a poster session, field trips, and the annual Association for Fire Ecology awards banquet are in the planning stages for the conference. More information will be available at this website in the next few weeks.
