VPAA 97-01 DEPARTMENT TITLE CHANGE FOR DEPARTMENT OF POLITICAL SCIENCE

At the request of the department, and with the endorsement of the college dean, approval has been granted, effective Fall Term 1997, to officially change the name of the Department of PoliticalScience to the Department of Government and Politics. The rationale for this change is that the new department name will more accurately reflect the existing nature of the department's objectives and curriculum;  i.e., courses are taught from perspectives of history, philosophy and law.  The name of the major, Political Science, will remain the same.
