Environmental concerns are not just technical problems, they’re also social and political problems. This area explores links between environmental issues and concerns about social justice, individual freedom and communal identity.

Potential career paths for majors with interests in this area include:
Environmental services specialist with municipal or county governments; staff support for state or federal Environmental Protection Agency; environmental specialist with tribal environmental departments; research, outreach, or program development specialist with local, national or international environmental/conservation organizations; environmental planner with private sector planning and engineering firms; law school; graduate school; sustainability coordinator for university environmental sustainability initiatives.
