The Kenneth L. Fisher Chair in Redwood Forest Ecology
In 2006, Humboldt State University alum Ken Fisher established the Kenneth L. Fisher Chair in Redwood Forest Ecology. It is the first endowed chair at HSU, and the only one in the world focused on a single tree species.
Fisher's goal in creating the chair was to transform our understanding of trees and forests.
The gift that supports the chair provides an annual base of funding to attract and retain the most preeminent scholars in the field. This allows a Humboldt State professor to devote half of his or her time focusing on research to further redwood forest ecology. The funds also provide support for graduate students, laboratory and field equipment, and other needs.
