Prerequisite CheckingPrerequisites for particular courses are enforced through web registration. In the printed class schedule there is a column next to the course listings titled "Pre Req". Check this column carefully! If there is a "Y" in this column next to the course you want to take, then you will not be able to register for the course UNLESS you have successfully completed the required prerequisites. To determine required prerequisites for any course you may view the Humboldt State University Catalog on the web at http://www.humboldt.edu/~reg/catalog.html. Required prerequisites can be (1) courses or (2) minimum test scores, such as EPT or ELM. If you attempt to register for a course and have not successfully completed the required prerequisites, you will get a registration error reading "Preq and Test Score Error." In some instances, you may be able to obtain a Magic Number for registration into the course if the instructor feels you have successfully satisfied the prerequisites in some other way. For most prerequisites, a grade of C- or better must be achieved to be considered successful completion. Exceptions to that minimum passing grade are listed in the University Catalog.
