For Faculty: Service Learning Course- "S" Designation Information

As a faculty member implementing a Service Learning "S" Course, the following steps are required.

  1. Review the Overview of Service Learning "S" Designation process and Risk Management requirements. (.doc)
  2. Faculty members interested in utilizing Service Learning pedagogy are required to submit their course via the "S" Designation Policy process and forms for approval by first their department, then by the ICC (please see document: "Senate Resolution 06-10-11-S Designated Courses Policy"). Faculty will need to use and complete the "S" Designation Form.

Please contact the Service Learning Center Staff as soon as possible to assist you with the process. Please be aware that the development of Community Partnerships and the required risk management procedures and documentation that need to be put in place for every "S" course on behalf of the individual agencies, faculty and their students can be a lengthy process. Start early (at least one semester prior to course offering)!
