COSTS

Total Program Cost (see table below) consists of the following components:

Application: refundable if not accepted or the program cancels

Tuition: includes administration expenses and 12 semester units (18 quarter units) academic credit.

Academic fee: covers honorariums, local guides, first aid supplies, most group activity costs, and miscellaneous expenses.

Transportation: Most in-country transportation is chartered due to the remote locations we visit. For other destinations, we will use public bus transportation wherever possible (you will need some cash for these excursions.) Participants are to arrive by their own means in Belize City. Airfare to Belize City is currently about $1,000 (assumes departure from a major international airport).

Lodging/Meals: Most places we stay include healthy, prepared meals as part of the facility and have a fixed combined cost for food and lodging. When possible (camping or backpacking), we will buy our own food in local markets. Our lodging will consist of camping or dormitory-style facilities.

Health Insurance: required for study programs abroad. Includes repatriation and medical evacuation coverage must be purchased via Wells Fargo Insurance Services.

International Travel Documents: Passports are required and currently cost $97. They take up to 6 weeks to process. Expedited service is available for an additional fee. Visas may be required for non-U.S. citizens. Visa renewal occurs during the program; that fee is calculated in the "Student Expenses during program" total below.

Text: approximately $20. Purchase prior to U.S. departure.
