"There's often a communication gap between the public and key decision makers on issues that truly matter. My long-term goal is to help bridge that gap, by working in a research institute that analyzes social issues. The Sociology program is helping me reach that goal. I’m learning how society works, as well as how to analyze and interpret a wide range of quantitative and qualitative data."

When you choose Sociology at Humboldt State University you not only have access to our rigorous academic program, you also gain substantial research experience.

Under faculty guidance, you’ll conclude your bachelor’s degree with a thesis project of your own choosing. It’s a valuable experience, which most universities strictly reserve for their Masters and Ph.D. students. Past senior projects have ranged from studies of rap music and images of race to workshops developed for teachers of at-risk youth.
