Passionate about Social Justice? Want to work for social justice? Need another unit: Register for the 2013 Social Justice Summit March 1 & 2, 2013. "United, Undocumented, Unafraid!"
The summit fee is FREE for students, $25 for non-students (staff, faculty, and community members), and $20 for non-profit organizations.
The MultiCultural Center’s annual Social Justice Summit will be held on March 1 & 2, 2013 on the HSU Campus. The Summit will focus on undocumented students—what life “without papers” in the U.S.A. means and how we can support these students. One unit of academic credit is offered in Ethnic Studies and Women’s Studies.
What is Social Justice? Social justice is about educating ourselves and others, and taking action to change the status quo. Social justice is about giving voice to communities who have been forced into silence; social justice is about equity and equal access. What is your definition of social justice?
The title and theme of the 2013 Social Justice Summit is “United, Undocumented, Unafraid!” Our dream is to live without fear. To be able to have an identity that is recognized by all. Our dream is to have solidarity with one another. Our dream is to have families together undivided by borders. Our dream should not be restricted by laws, by the perception of society and greedy corporations. Our dream does not end until justice is met for all. Our dream finally has a foot in the door.
Note that on-site registration may be slow, given the anticipated popularity of the event. Therefore, early registration is highly recommended.
Staff, Faculty, Community Members, Non-Profits, CR Students, High School Students
