Computer Based Testing

The Testing Center is located in the Learning Commons, Library Basement (Room 24), (707) 826-3611.

Prometric Exams: Tuesday - Saturday

If no candidates are scheduled a week before the testing date then that date will be closed.

If calling the CBT Center you might be asked to leave a message on a good time to call back due to staffing. If you prefer you may register for testing by calling: (707) 826-3611

GRE General – Computer Based Testing (CBT)

The GRE (general) is a fully computer-based test (CBT). Humboldt State University’s Testing Center is an Educational Testing Services (ETS) testing site.

You may schedule appointments using your credit or debit card by going to www.gre.org.

All test fees are paid at the time you schedule your appointment.

The fees are as follows:

GRE - $185.00 (check website: www.gre.org for any updates on test fees).

The appointment time for the exam is 4.5 hours.

Test candidates are responsible for knowing all the information in the information bulletins prior to scheduling their test appointments and taking their test. GRE Subject Tests – Paper-Based Only

The Subject Tests are paper-based tests in the following 8 subject areas:

Testing time is 2 hours and 50 minutes.

Miller Analogies Test (MAT)

The MAT is a high-level mental ability test requiring the solution of problems stated as analogies. It consists of 120 partial analogies that are to be completed in 60 minutes.

Fluency in the English language, a broad knowledge of literature, philosophy, history, science, mathematics, and fine arts, and the ability to reason out relationships may contribute to performance on the MAT.

ibt TOEFL

The ibt TOEFL is a fully computer-based test (CBT). Humboldt State University’s Testing Center is an Educational Testing Services (ETS) testing site.

The Test Office has a 4 seat computer lab that administers the ibt TOEFL.

All test fees are paid at the time you schedule your appointment.The ibt TOEFL is $180.00 (check website: http://www.toefl.org for any updates on test fees).

There is a $50.00 rescheduling fee for the ibt TOEFL. You must call ETS (1-800-967-1100) no later than ten business days prior to your scheduled appointment or the entire test fee is forfeited.

To reschedule an appointment for any of the computer-based tests, call ETS (1-800-967-1100). To cancel an appointment, call 1-800-GO-TOEFL (1-800-468-6335) or go online to http://www.toefl.org for more details.

The appointment time for the exam is 4.5 hours.
