Our Program
URM Program Highlights
Program starts in June of each year and lasts two calendar years.
- During the summer you will conduct three short research projects with different faculty mentors (see Faculty Mentors page for participating faculty and their research areas). At the end of the summer you will chose a faculty mentor with whom you will conduct a research project over the remainder of the Program.
Fall semester of your first year in the Program
- You will enroll in a Research Methods course that will teach you about how to conduct research as well as how to prepare and present a research proposal (for your individual URM research project).
- Working with your faculty mentor, you will begin work on your research project.
Monthly journal club meetings where we will discuss scientific research of interest to the participants.
Several workshops on how to prepare for graduate school, how to get into graduate school, the challenges and joys of graduate school, and how to prepare yourself for the job market.
Social events with the express purpose of having fun!
