What should all our graduates know and be able to do as a result of their Humboldt experience?
- Financial Responsibility, knowledge of personal finance
- Students learning to be self-reliant
- Learning the fundamental nature of science/math, curious minds
- Ethics and character, integrity, treat others with civility, engagement with community
- Being self-actualized
- Understand where ideas come from, history of human thought
- Know how to navigate a complex world, global context, different points of view
- Communication (writing emphasis)
- Reasoning/rhetoric
- Tolerance and appreciation of other viewpoints
- Understand fundamental knowledge/develop a worldview
- Develop responsibility for future, engagement, application of knowledge
Comments on Theme 1 Committee Draft:
- Outcome 1) emphasized the importance of personal responsibility and self-actualization.
- Outcome 2) talked about understanding versus engagement, wanted to emphasize the importance of critical thinking, seeking to understand through active listening
- Outcome 3) add science
- Outcome 4) suggested adding communication as well as writing
