What should all our graduates know and be able to do as a result of their Humboldt experience?

  • Financial Responsibility, knowledge of personal finance
  • Students learning to be self-reliant
  • Learning the fundamental nature of science/math, curious minds
  • Ethics and character, integrity, treat others with civility, engagement with community
  • Being self-actualized
  • Understand where ideas come from, history of human thought
  • Know how to navigate a complex world, global context, different points of view
  • Communication (writing emphasis)
  • Reasoning/rhetoric
  • Tolerance and appreciation of other viewpoints
  • Understand fundamental knowledge/develop a worldview
  • Develop responsibility for future, engagement, application of knowledge

Comments on Theme 1 Committee Draft:

  • Outcome 1) emphasized the importance of personal responsibility and self-actualization.
  • Outcome 2) talked about understanding versus engagement, wanted to emphasize the importance of critical thinking, seeking to understand through active listening
